Biography

Dr. Gabriella McLoughlin is an assistant professor in the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences in the College of Public Health at Temple University where she directs the RISE (Research in Implementation Science to Advance Equity) Lab. Dr. McLoughlin received training in implementation science in chronic disease prevention as a research associate at Washington University in St. Louis funded by the National Cancer Institute. She completed several implementation science fellowships funded by the National Institutes of health; such training has prepared her to lead innovative work to align policy evaluation with implementation science, using community-engaged approached.
Dr. McLoughlin is deeply committed to improving implementation of evidence-based policies and programs to address health inequities and is currently funded on a K01 Career Development award through the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI). This work focuses on improving the equitable impact of Universal School Meals through an implementation mapping process in collaboration with the School District of Philadelphia. She and her team have built a Community Advisory Board (CAB) to facilitate this work and learn from the expertise of the broader Philadelphia community.

Other funded projects at the RISE lab focus on designing for dissemination and sustainability (D4DS) to enhance equitable dissemination of research evidence (funded by the National Institute for Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Disorders), developing measurement tools for policy evaluation grounded in health equity and social justice (funded by the Urban School Food Alliance), and improving the implementation of local and international programs for healthy eating and physical activity.
