Biography
Sezgin Çiftçi is an assistant professor of instruction in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics. He earned his BS and PhD in statistics and MS in actuarial sciences from Middle East Technical University in Turkey. He was a visiting research scholar in the Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology at University at Albany, SUNY from September 2017 to February 2018 with an award given by the Turkish Scientific and Technical Council (TUBITAK). He has interest and experience mainly in Bayesian data analysis, missing data, multiple model approaches and spatial data analysis. His studies are mostly based on computational algorithms and simulations. Prior to joining Temple University, he was a lecturer of statistics for almost seven years at the Faculty of Commercial Sciences in Başkent University, Ankara, Turkey. He has given elementary statistics, elementary calculus, probability theory and life tables and models courses. Since his arrival in January 2022, Dr. Ciftci has been actively engaged in teaching a diverse range of courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Some of the courses he has taught include Biostatistics, Multivariable Biostatistics, and Data Management and Analysis.
