Biography
Dr. Soylu is an assistant professor of instruction in the Department of Health Services Administration and Policy within the College of Public Health at Temple University. Before joining Temple University, she was teaching and doing research in the Department of Health Administration and Policy at George Mason University. Dr. Soylu earned her PhD in health services research in 2019 and an MHA in 2015, both from George Mason University. She also received her MBA in 1994 from Morgan State University.
Dr. Soylu’s research focuses on primary care practice transformation, quality improvement, change management, workplace burnout and value-based payment systems. While obtaining her PhD, she worked for four year on a national project, EvidenceNOW, that aimed to transform primary care into evidence-based practices while improving population cardiovascular care; it was funded by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ). Dr. Soylu is also interested in doing research in vulnerable populations such as health insurance adequacy and consistency among children and maternal access to care and maternal mortality in the U.S.
Dr. Soylu has extensive experience in the healthcare industry, including leadership, education consulting and nursing. Prior to joining academia, she worked as a consultant in the healthcare industry for six years, held a leadership position at 3M healthcare corporation for 10 years, and worked as a nurse in the intensive care unit of cardiovascular surgery for eight years.
