Biography
Dr. Wenxue Lin is an assistant professor of instruction in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics. Dr. Lin received his PhD in epidemiology from the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine in 2022 and his MS in epidemiology from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in 2019.
Dr. Lin’s research focuses on tobacco control and reduced nicotine content cigarettes. Dr. Lin examined two randomized controlled trials of reduced nicotine content cigarettes to address tobacco-related health disparities in smokers with low socioeconomic status (SES) and mental health conditions (mood and/or anxiety disorders). Dr. Lin investigated the effects of reduced nicotine contents cigarettes on smoking behavior and biomarkers of tobacco exposure.
In addition to conducting tobacco-related research, Dr. Lin analyzed several epidemiologic datasets including the Population Assessment of Tobacco and Health (PATH), Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS), Health Information National Trends Survey (HINTS), and the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES).
