The College of Education and Human Development is committed to researching improvements to the learning process for students of all ages in all types of educational or training organizations. Research Quality & Funding

In 2016, Temple was elevated to an R1 institution of “very high research activity” by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education, placing it in the top 4% of all four-year educational institutions in the nation. Temple’s research enterprise distinguishes itself through its focus on community, and using advances in technology to make a positive impact on people’s lives.

In the same year, the National Science Foundation placed Temple among the top 100 in terms of research expenditures, which amounted to $242 million. Learn more about the university’s research support efforts.

The College of Education and Human Development’s externally funded research expenditure was $13.8 million in fiscal year 2017.

Facilities

The College of Education and Human Development is primarily located in Ritter Hall, Ritter Hall Annex and Weiss Hall on Temple’s Main Campus. The campus’ North Philadelphia location is suited to provide opportunities for students to engage with area schools, communities, government agencies, and for-profit and nonprofit organizations.
