How to Apply

The Health Information Management program has a separate admissions process from other undergraduate degrees. Please carefully read the information below to ensure you are following the correct admissions process.

Students apply to the program either during their sophomore year in the Pre-HIM program, or from other Temple programs or other educational institutions. Specific application instructions for current Temple students and transfer students are detailed below. The application process for the Health Information Management Major program is different for each.

Applicants are required to have completed (or be close to completing) several prerequisite courses and must have a GPA of 2.8 or higher when they apply.

Transfer Students

The BS in Health Information Management has program-to-program transfer agreements with several community colleges in the area (Delaware County Community College, Montgomery County Community College and Camden County College). Students enrolled at these community colleges might receive transfer credit when they enter the BS in Health Information Management program. If you are considering transferring to Temple and are interested in the HIM program, please contact the College of Public Health Office of Admissions at cph@temple.edu or 215-204-5200 for information about transfer credits and guidance on prerequisite requirements.

To apply for admission to the Health Information Management Major program, transfer students should follow the process for applying for admission to Temple University.

Current Temple Students

Current Temple students apply to the program during their sophomore year in order to begin study in their junior year. To apply, current Temple students must fill out this PDF form; instructions for submission are included on the form.

First-year students at Temple are strongly encouraged to enter the Pre-HIM program, which helps them prepare to apply for the BS.
