At the intersection of business and technology, management information systems focus on designing, implementing and managing information systems to optimize decision-making and drive business efficiency. These systems could power

Students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems will gain the expertise needed to thrive in today’s digital economy, where businesses–from global enterprises to startups–are continually transforming operations with emerging technologies like cloud computing, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity solutions.
Management Information Systems BBA students learn to

design and develop API-driven business solutions (e.g., create a dynamic web application using JavaScript, Node.js, and Express);

implement cloud-based enterprise applications (e.g., deploy and manage scalable infrastructure on Amazon Web Services);

apply cybersecurity best practices (e.g., use cryptographic techniques to secure digital transactions and prevent cyber threats);

leverage data analytics for business decision-making (e.g., use data mining techniques to extract insights from relational and NoSQL databases like MySQL and MongoDB); and

For students interested in expanding their expertise, the program also provides a strong foundation in specialized areas such as data analytics, cybersecurity, cloud computing and API-driven application development.
Students pursuing the Management Information Systems Major work closely with internationally renowned faculty and benefit from the myriad of industry opportunities that come with attending an urban university, such as access to internships, networking events and professional organizations. The IT Advisory Board at Temple’s Institute for Business and Information Technology is comprised of representatives from some of Philadelphia’s largest companies, who serve as mentors and valuable connections.
