How to Apply

To apply, submit an application along with a fee of $60 to the College of Education and Human Development.

After submitting the application, you will receive instructions on how to submit the additional application materials listed below through your online MyTU account. If you prefer, you may also mail these materials to

You will receive your nine-digit Temple University identification number (TUid) via email once you submit your application for admission. Be sure to include your name and TUid on all documents that you mail to Temple. View a complete set of application instructions for graduate study in the College of Education and Human Development.

Supporting Materials

  1. Transcripts: Submit official undergraduate and graduate transcripts from all accredited institutions you have attended and/or from which you earned credit. Official transcripts can be emailed to educate@temple.edu or sent to the Office of Enrollment Management address listed above.
  2. Prerequisite courses: These are determined by the specialization that you choose, but usually include a number of language arts and math courses. (See PRAXIS and Prerequisites.) A prerequisite evaluation is conducted upon receipt of your application and all official transcripts.
  3. PRAXIS II: Submit official score reports demonstrating a passing score on Praxis test code 5154 (Pennsylvania qualifying score: 152) and Praxis test code 5155 (Pennsylvania qualifying score: 164). Although not required, we recommend that applicants pass the subject-area test(s) shown below prior to admission. For details on test codes, see PRAXIS and Prerequisites.

  4. Statement of Goals: Write a 500- to 1,000-word statement of purpose outlining your interest in seeking a master's degree with a specific focus on the career to which you aspire, your interests, and your academic and job-related experiences that are relevant to the program.  
  5. Recommendations: Submit two letters of reference that provide insight into your academic competence. References from college or university faculty members are recommended. You may request recommendations through your MyTU account or send them using the paper Reference Report for Graduate Study (PDF) to the above mailing address.
  6. Résumé: A current professional résumé is required.
