To qualify for admission to the transitional Clinical Doctorate in Occupational Therapy (OTD) program, you must be a licensed occupational therapist. You will need a master’s degree in occupational therapy with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 to apply, or you must have completed Temple’s post-professional certificate in occupational therapy.
Students must apply through SOPHAS Express. The documents listed below will be submitted through SOPHAS.
Submit transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate institutions you’ve attended. Applicants should order electronic copies of their transcripts through their institutions and have the order emailed directly to cph@temple.edu.
Please provide three letters of recommendation from individuals who can speak to your potential for graduate study. Recommenders can be faculty members or immediate work supervisors.
Write a minimum of one page reflecting on your aptitude for rigorous graduate study and practice in occupational therapy, including the mental flexibility, teamwork and service to others required for success.
In addition, describe an area of interest you want to pursue through doctoral studies and explain connections between this topic and the expertise of the department’s faculty members. This is key, since you’ll be working closely with a professor on your capstone research experience.
GRE scores are only required if your master's GPA is lower than 3.0. If needed, your score should be in the top 50th percentile on both the verbal and the quantitative sections.
Your official GRE scores should be submitted to Temple University College of Public Health’s OTCAS-specific code 1239.
A current professional résumé is required.
A copy of your current state-issued OT license is required.
Once all of the required application materials are received, students may be invited to participate in a phone interview with OT faculty.
Laptops are integrated into the curriculum at the College of Public Health to improve opportunities for active learning and provide greater access to specialized software and required tools in and out of the classroom.
