Temple’s podiatric medicine doctoral program prepares its students for the Board of Podiatric Medical Examiners national licensing examinations through a rigorous course of clinical training. TUSPM has modern facilities in multiple locations—each featuring onsite radiology—where students receive hands-on instruction from expert faculty.
In their third year, students complete 11 months of clinical training at TUSPM’s Foot and Ankle Institute.
Fourth-year students are required to complete an additional 10 months of training which consists of
a minimum of two months at the Foot and Ankle institute;
one month with a private practitioner; and
an additional seven months of training, six of which must be at an external clerkship.
If space is available, students who choose to complete only six months of clerkships, can request to complete their seventh month at TUSPM.
Throughout training, students have access to a fitness center, gait study facility, a modern library with extensive holdings on the lower extremity, a shoe museum and more.
